Cleveland Potash Ltd has modernized coating analysis with Elementar’s soli TOC cube, improving efficiency and process control
Cleveland Potash Ltd has strengthened its quality control and research capabilities at the Boulby mine by adopting Elementar’s soli TOC cube for fast, safe and flexible TOC analysis.
The laboratory previously relied on a chloroform extraction method to assess coating levels on finished fertiliser products. This process was hazardous, time-consuming and limited the laboratory to around one test per shift. By introducing the soli TOC cube, CPL Boulby has removed chloroform from routine use, increased sample throughput and enabled faster availability of results for more responsive process control.
The soli TOC cube has allowed us to expand the local R&D capacity at Boulby - being able to flexibly analyze the coatings themselves to determine carbon content as well as the more routine analysis above. It also adds capacity to run ad-hoc samples for carbon analysis that would otherwise have had to undergo costly external contract analysis.
