Application Note
Determination of carbon in soil, sediment, sludge, and solid waste
The content of total organic carbon (TOC) is an important parameter to understand the element cycling of soils and sediments. It provides essential information on microbiological activity and the fraction of organic matter which is the basis for the evaluation of soils and sediments.
This Application Note shows how the parameters total organic carbon, total inorganic carbon (TIC), and elemental carbon (ROC) can be reliably determined in soil samples, sediments, sludge, and solid waste by using our elemental analyzers dedicated to carbon analysis.
