Application Note
TOC determination in mineral soils with the soli TOC® cube
The determination of total organic carbon (TOC) by combustion using temperatures above 900 °C with prior acidification is an established technique which is used worldwide for soil and waste characterization. This technique presents several challenges, as it must be guaranteed that sample preparation does not change the sample composition significantly. In addition, pre-acidification is a time-consuming task.
This Application Note demonstrates an alternative method for reliable TOC determination in mineral soils, using a dynamic temperature program without pre-acidification.
