Fast, automated nitrogen determination in tobacco

Nitrogen analysis in tobacco is carried out because proteins and nitrogen containing compounds in tobacco can lead to the formation of toxicants in cigarette smoke. Moreover, it is said that the flavor and taste of smoke and the color of tobacco correlate with the nitrogenous constituents.

This Application Note shows the measurement results of different types of tobacco which were tested on our Dumas nitrogen and protein analyzers.
